Are you the responsible rebel we are looking for?
Because catching the bad guys starts with an environment you can rely on
To extend our multidisciplinary team, we are now hiring a SysOps Engineer. Does a reliable deployment pipeline give you that quiet satisfaction others get from inbox zero? Do you automate repetitive work before it becomes somebody’s daily routine? Do you enjoy making cloud environments work reliably for the people who depend on them? Do you belong to the most talented group of SysOps Engineers in the industry, or is this where you plan to be? Then Hunt & Hackett might be the best next step in your career.
SysOps Engineer at Hunt & Hackett
At Hunt & Hackett, we believe modern cybersecurity requires cloud native applications, the right data sources, often at serious volume, and a healthy reluctance to reinvent the wheel. As our SysOps Engineer, you build and maintain the environment that makes this possible. You are not just keeping the lights on. You help our teams deliver the security services our customers depend on.
Your focus is a reliable, serverless, cloud native environment, with continuous integration, deployment, testing and monitoring built into the way we work. You make changes repeatable, keep systems observable and help ensure that getting ready for production means more than “it worked on my machine”.
Git, Prometheus, Nagios, Docker and Kubernetes are familiar territory. You use metrics to understand how systems behave and where they need attention. You like managing things as code, from infrastructure to security detections, because repeatable and traceable beats clicking through the same settings twice.
Automation is usually your first thought. Terraform, Ansible and Puppet help you turn manual tasks into something reliable and reusable. You are comfortable working with Microsoft 365 and Azure, and you look for practical ways to make life easier for both customers and colleagues.
You do not need to be a software developer, but you understand how developers work. You discuss best practices, challenge assumptions constructively and help turn applications into services that are secure, maintainable and ready for production.
You also document how everything fits together. Not just which components exist, but how they interact and why particular choices matter. You translate technical decisions into business benefits and business needs into workable technical solutions. Throughout it all, you keep the people using your systems in mind. A technically elegant solution only helps if it solves their actual problem.
The Hunt & Hackett wish list. The right candidate has:
[Cloud operations experience]: You have strong experience building and maintaining production systems on AWS, GCP or Azure. You understand what it takes to keep an environment reliable beyond its first successful deployment.
[Identity management knowledge]: You are familiar with Microsoft Entra ID, formerly Azure AD, or willing to learn how to manage identities and access securely.
[Scripting and automation skills]: You use tools such as Python and PowerShell to automate repetitive work. Doing something manually once can be useful. Turning it into a permanent routine is less appealing.
[System administration experience]: You are comfortable administering modern Linux distributions and Microsoft Windows systems.
[Microsoft 365 experience:] You know how to configure and maintain Microsoft 365, keeping security and the needs of your colleagues in mind.
[Infrastructure and delivery skills]: You work with tools such as Terraform, Ansible and Puppet, and understand how Git, containers, Kubernetes and automated testing fit into a reliable delivery process.
[Monitoring knowledge]: You are familiar with Prometheus, Nagios and monitoring based on metrics. You use that visibility to spot problems and improve systems.
[Clear communication and documentation]: You explain technical choices, document how components work together and collaborate comfortably with developers, customers and colleagues.
[A customer first mindset]: You find flexible, practical solutions without losing sight of security, reliability or maintainability.
Please note: this is a wish list, not a bingo card. If you recognise yourself in most of it and can explain how you would grow into the rest, we encourage you to apply. At Hunt & Hackett, your potential and ability to learn count for a lot.
What is your wish list? As a minimum, Hunt & Hackett offers you:
- A monthly salary off course: the range for this role is between € 2.764,- and € 5.506,-
- The opportunity to safeguard Europe’s leading organisations
- A unique culture of responsible rebellion, where you can learn from the best and get the most out of yourself

A culture of responsible rebellion
Only very talented, multidisciplinary teams of threat hunters, intelligence analysts, reverse engineers, data scientists, developers and hackers can outsmart the increasingly professional community of cyber attackers.
We pride ourselves on being a force for good. That is why we think and act as responsible rebels. Everyone at Hunt & Hackett wants to be the best in their field and focuses on delivering the next generation of security services.
This means that we live by:
Security first: Security is a foundational core value. You prioritize it in every aspect of your work.
Pushing the envelope: You take responsibility for making our work better every day. Sometimes that means coloring outside the lines when needed.
Everything is important: Tiny details can have a huge impact, especially in security. You keep the bigger picture in sight without overlooking the details.
Perseverance: Some challenges take hours to solve. Others take considerably longer. You keep going, learn from setbacks and work towards a solution.
Ego is the enemy: You challenge yourself and others, welcome better arguments and keep the shared goal in sight.
