Are you the responsible rebel we are looking for?
Because data only becomes valuable when you can trust it, use it and turn it into action.
Hunt & Hackett helps European companies prevent, detect and respond to today’s most advanced adversaries, safeguarding them against cyberthreats and espionage. We do not just stir a bit into security strategies. Our talented team of responsible rebels shakes them up to build, operate and maintain digital immune systems that help our customers outsmart their digital adversaries.
To extend our multidisciplinary team, we are now hiring a Security Consultant. Do you get energized by helping organizations understand their actual threat landscape instead of handing them generic checklists? Do you enjoy diving deep into an organization’s security posture and turning complex gaps into practical roadmaps that engineering and management can execute? And do you believe that a security recommendation is only good if a customer can realistically implement it? Then Hunt & Hackett might be the next best step in your career.
Security Consultant at Hunt & Hackett
At Hunt & Hackett, a Security Consultant is not an audit tourist or someone who copy pastes boilerplate advice. You guide our customers through a structured journey to measurably improve their resilience.
As our security consultant, you are the face of our expertise. You carry yourself with natural authority, are presentable, and act as a trusted advisor to our clients. Together with our sales team you win the trust of prospects and you foster the relationship with prospects and clients.
Using our proprietary gap assessment tooling, you assess where the customer stands today, define their desired security posture based on their actual threat landscape, and map out the steps to close the gap. These assessment projects run for roughly two months, during which you host weekly remote sessions with the customer team. At the end of the trajectory, you deliver a crisp, well written report and a realistic roadmap. Zero fluff, 100% actionable value.
Your responsibilities include:
[Data driven gap assessments]: you lead gap assessment trajectories using our proprietary tooling. You analyze the customer's current state, evaluate their controls, and determine what they truly need to defend against relevant adversaries.
[Threat informed roadmaps]: you translate identified gaps into an ambitious yet realistic security roadmap. You define concrete, phased projects that help the customer reach the next maturity level without burning out their team or budget.
[Client guidance]: you act as the trusted advisor for your client. You guide stakeholders, ask the right technical and organizational questions, and keep the project on track.
[Clear reporting without shelfware]: you write clear, high impact assessment reports that executives understand and technical teams can immediately put into practice.
[Continuous improvement]: you work closely with our threat intelligence, detection, and engineering teams to continuously sharpen our assessment methodology and tooling.
The Hunt & Hackett wish list. The right candidate has:
[3-6 years of relevant experience]
[Security & consulting foundation]: you have solid experience within cybersecurity, for instance in security consulting, SOC operations, incident response, risk management, or security engineering.
[Broad security foundation]: you have a solid understanding of core cybersecurity concepts and are comfortable discussing different security topics with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are curious, eager to learn and able to see how individual findings fit into the wider security picture.
[Analytical & pragmatic mindset]: you can quickly understand complex infrastructures and processes, identify relevant weaknesses, and distinguish important security issues from lower-priority gaps. You can place individual findings in the wider context of the organisation and its security challenges.
[Strong advisory skills]: you are comfortable facilitating (remote) workshops with CISOs, security engineers, and IT managers. You are curious, ask good follow-up questions and look beyond high-level answers to understand how security works in practice. You know when to listen, when to challenge assumptions, and how to create buy-in.
[Excellent writing skills]: you take pride in clear, concise writing in English and Dutch. You know how to explain technical findings in plain language without losing depth.
[Structure & ownership]: you are well organized, manage expectations proactively, and deliver high quality project results within the scheduled timeframe.
Please note: this is a wish list, not a bingo card. If you recognize yourself in most of it and can explain how you would grow into the rest, we encourage you to apply. At Hunt & Hackett, your potential and ability to learn count for a lot.
What is your wish list? As a minimum, Hunt & Hackett offers you:

A culture of ‘responsible rebellion’
Only (very) talented, multidisciplinary teams of threat hunters, intelligence analysts, reverse engineers, data scientists, developers and hackers are able to outsmart the increasingly professional community of cyber attackers. We pride ourselves as a force for the good and as such we think and act as responsible rebels. We are not ‘just another security company’, and our people are not ‘just employees’. Everyone at Hunt & Hackett wants to be the best in their field and focuses at delivering next-gen levels of service. This means that we live by:
- Security first: a foundational core value that underscores our company's unwavering commitment to prioritizing security in all aspects of our operations.
- Pushing the envelope: Everyone at our teams takes the responsibility to make our work better every day, by being creative to color outside of the lines if needed.
- Everything is important: Tiny details have a huge impact, especially in security. We are system thinkers that oversee the big picture and who are simultaneously obsessive about details. That’s why we champion tradecraft.
- Perseverance: To become successful, you will have to endure challenges, errors, failures and obstacles along the way. These may take weeks, months, or years to overcome.
- Ego is the enemy: Ego ultimately prevents us from learning, holds us back and makes us overreach. It is therefore important to battle that inner force that destroys great empire's, companies, careers and tears apart relationships.
